NGC1566

There are massive amounts of Hydrogen gas in the Milky Way galaxy

This image is derived from radio telescope data. It shows the hydgogen cloud that extends along the plane of the Milky Way.

The data was obtained with the Parkes Radio Telescope and the Australia Telescope Compact Array by N. McClure-Griffiths and the Southern Galactic Plane Survey team.

In this false color image black represents very strong emission.
