Interstellar clouds of dust and gas
Ground-based telescopes have allowed us to see that in parts of the Milky Way,
there are vast clouds of dust and gas between the stars.
Spectrographs have allowed us to determine the motions and composition of
the clouds.
This image of the Rosette Nebula was taken by the 3.9-meter
Anglo-Australian Telescope.
