Path of Venus through the Sky as seen from EarthVenus Receeding - The Morning StarWhen Venus is moving away from Earth, it is visible in the eastern sky, just before sunrise. It becomes smaller it recedes and more of its surface becomes lit as it moves towards the other side of the Sun. The animation represents the path Venus would take through the sky, if you were to plot its position at the same time every morning just before sunrise. The animation is highly speeded up. It actually takes Venus over six months to trace out this path. The Sun's position in the sky, just below the horizon, is shown. |
