At night, sunlight does not shine on the atmosphere. Blue light scattering falls off dramatically. The sky goes dark. The stars become visible. Moonlight and starlight, however, contain blue light. Some of it is scattered by atmospheric molecules. The blueness of the night-time sky is difficult to detect. One way to show it is via long-exposure photography. |
