Why the Sky is Blue
We see the world about us because sunlight reflected from it enters our eyes.
We see the sky in daytime, because blue light scattered by gas molecules in the atmosphere enters our eyes.
Show Scattered Rays
Light from the sky swamps the light of the stars. They are there, but cannot usually be seen during the day. If the atmosphere lost its ability to scatter blue light, the sky would disappear and the stars would shine through.
