170 km wide, impact structure buried beneath the Yucatan Peninsular, Mexico. Formed 65 million years ago. Possibly linked with the mass extinction event at the end of the Tertiary Era when half the species then alive, including the Dinosaurs, suddenly dissapeared from the fossil record.
