The Hubble Ultra Deep Field is near the centre of the Fornax Survey Area. It is about one hundredth the size of the full moon.

Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) and Near Infrared (NICMOS) camera have imaged the area. The ACS camera resolves fine detail in multiple bands from ultraviolet to infrared. The NICMOS camera sees deeper into the infrared, but lacks the higher resolution of the ACS.

Some of the objects in the UDF images are the most distant yet observed. - their light has been travelling for 13 billion years.
