Pan

Pan was first noticed in 1990 in images taken by the Voyagers in 1980.

This image, taken by Cassini in December 2004 is the first sighting of Pan since Voyager days. The moon, only 25 km across, has just emerged from Saturn's shadow.

Pan orbits within the Encke Gap, a 300 kilometer wide clear band in Saturn's outer A ring. Pan keeps the gap clear of debris.
