Angular, light-colored rocks ranging from a few inches to several inches wide are scattered across a sandy surface in front of a ripple of sand. On the distant horizon, in the upper right-hand corner of the image, are the slopes of a row of hills.

A rock-cluttered path didn't stop Spirit on its trek to the distant hills -- no one knew at the time we'd not only reach the hills, but "hike" up them as well!
