Overview

The original image was taken on Mars in July 1997 by the robotic rover, Mars Pathfinder.
Note:
  • the details that become visible at higher levels of zoom.
  • that at the highest zoom levels, the resolution of the image breaks apart.
The number of pixels recorded by the camera determines the amount of detail that can be seen in an image. More detail becomes visible as one zooms in, until the pixels themselves become visible. Zooming beyond that point displays no additional information.
