The Hubble Telescope's Field of ViewSize of the Moon IllusionThe Angular Size of the Moon HST Field of View WFPC Moon Mosaic Copernicus Detail The 90 km wide Copernicus crater was formed when a 2 kilometer wide asteroid slammed into the surface a billion years ago. Part of an image obtained by the HST during the 1999 survey is shown here. Layers in the wall of the crater are clearly visible. In the full resolution image, features as small as 85 metres across can be seen.
