NEAR was inserted into a 330km radius, 35 day orbit on 14th Feb 2000. At periodic intervals it will fire its thrusters to transfer into a series of closer orbits. Orbit correction manoeuvre (OCM) dates are given on the diagram. The orbit path's are shown in a different colour after each OCM. Note: The plane of NEAR's orbit will be periodically adjusted to keep it approximately at right angles to the line from the Sun to Eros.
