The TA Hale-Bopp planisphere

To help you plan your observations of this extraordinary object we have produced a planisphere showing the track of the comet. Each of the zip archives is about 170K in size and contains three PDF files which you can print. The two bottom sheets should be printed onto the two sides of a piece of stiff cardboard. They show the constellations and the comet's track for the selected latitude. The top sheet should be printed onto clear plastic. When this is placed on top of the bottom sheet it can be rotated to select the current date and time. The visible sky is then shown in the window along with the position of the comet for that date.

To print your planisphere you will need a PDF viewer and a utility to unzip the compressed archive into PDF files.

The planisphere was designed by Peter Meadows.
