- Astronomers have found over 50 Hot Jupiters orbiting very close to their stars
- They have detected them by the way they vary the light of their stars
- Apart from their masses and orbits, we have learned little else about them
- The Spitzer Infrared Space Telescope has been examining some
transiting Hot Jupiters
- The SST has directly detected radiation emitted by the exoplanets
- Now we can study of the surface and atmospheres of explanets
